If you’ve been asking what is Lomi Lomi massage, the short answer is this: it is a flowing, continuous massage that uses long strokes across the body rather than focused pressure in one place. The aim is deep relaxation and a calmer state, not working a specific knot or injury. I offer it as a mobile treatment across North London, so the table, linens and oils come to your own living room. A one-hour session starts from £95.
What Lomi Lomi massage is
Lomi Lomi is not a fixed routine that I apply in the same order to every person. I adapt each session to how your body feels on the day. The foundation stays the same: long, continuous strokes that move without sudden stops. That uninterrupted rhythm is what gives the treatment its feel.
The Lomi Lomi massage benefits I aim for are deep relaxation and a calmer state. If you have been running on stress and mental fatigue, this is the treatment I usually suggest. Some people expect massage to be intense or uncomfortable. Lomi Lomi is different. The pressure can be firm, but the quality is fluid. You are more likely to notice the continuity than an isolated thumb pressing into one muscle.
It is not the right choice if your main priority is a specific knot in your shoulder or a stiff lower back. In that case, something more focused usually works better.
Because I am a mobile practice, the treatment happens in your home. I bring everything required. There is no clinic to visit and no journey home when the session ends.
Lomi Lomi vs Lomi Lohi
I offer Lomi Lohi as a particularly slow approach to Lomi Lomi. Both treatments use long, continuous strokes. The difference is pace. Lomi Lohi slows everything down further, which can suit you if your mind tends to stay busy even when your body is still.
If you want to feel mentally switched off rather than physically worked on, Lomi Lohi is often the one to try. It is best for deep relaxation, stress and mental fatigue. If you are unsure which of the two to book, message me and describe what is bothering you. I will suggest where to start, at no charge.
What a home session is actually like
A Lomi Lomi massage at home needs a clear floor space of about 3 × 2 metres. A living room or bedroom is fine. I arrive ten minutes early to set up quietly. You don’t need to supply anything.

The only preparation I ask is that you tie your hair back and remove jewellery before I arrive. After that, you do nothing except lie down and let the strokes do their work.
Once the table is set up, the room stays ordinary: your own lamps, your own sofa. There is no unfamiliar clinic corridor. For a treatment designed around a calmer state, that can make a difference.
The 60, 90 or 120 minutes are hands-on time. Setting up and packing down do not reduce it. When the treatment ends, there is nowhere to travel. You can sit down, drink water and stay in the calm for as long as you like. That is one of the reasons a home visit suits this treatment so well.
Who it suits, and who might choose another treatment
Lomi Lomi suits deep relaxation, stress and mental fatigue. If you feel tight and tired but not in acute pain, it is often a good match.
Lomi Lomi vs deep tissue is a useful comparison. Deep Tissue is focused work for muscular tension, stiffness and restricted movement. If you sit at a laptop all day and your shoulders creep up towards your ears by four o’clock, Deep Tissue is likely to be the better fit. A one-hour Deep Tissue session starts from £85.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage is another option. It uses gentle, rhythmic techniques that support lymphatic flow and can help reduce temporary fluid retention. If your main concern is a feeling of heaviness or puffiness, rather than tension or stress, it may be worth considering. A one-hour MLD session starts from £90.
Lomi Lomi is not a medical treatment. If you have sharp or worsening pain, numbness, swelling, a recent injury or operation, see your GP first. If you are pregnant, unwell or have a diagnosed condition, check with your GP before booking. That applies to all treatments I offer.
Before and after your massage
Before a Lomi Lomi session, you don’t need to do much. Tie your hair back and remove jewellery. I handle the rest.
For Lomi Lomi aftercare, the advice is simple:
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid heavy or high-impact exercise for the next 12–24 hours.
- Eat light meals.
- Rest if you feel sleepy.
- Take a warm bath or shower if it feels soothing.
Because Lomi Lomi is relaxation led, some people feel sleepy afterwards. That is not a problem. It is part of why home treatment works; you don’t have to get in a car or face a busy street.
Mild muscle tenderness is normal and usually eases within 24–48 hours. You can read the full aftercare advice after your session.
